Expressing Regret

December 20, 2009

REMEMBER!
*    If only/I wish +S+simple past—-expresses regret about a present reality.
*    If only/I wish+S+past perfect—-
expresses regret about a past reality.

SO LOOOOOOOOK!(*)
***If you have the verb in the present in the reality sentence,that”s reality about the present so you should use the first rule above to express regret about a present reality.
***But if you have the verb in the past in the reality sentence,that’s reality about the past.So use the second rule above to express regret about the past.
